Blurry Weekend Photo Recap 1: Tall Tall Trees at Mercury Lounge, NYC

It’s true, I admit I’m the unofficial president of the Mike Savino fan club. And the live show last Saturday night at The Mercury Lounge in NYC with the Tall Tall Trees- replete with Mom in the audience – did not disappoint. Lots of new songs, a frenetic energy mostly lead by Mike’s trademark unusual shredding banjo sounds and an expert crew of cross-culturally literate percussive and rhythmic players.  They were also celebrating the success of a recent fundraising drive to support their next recording adventure, so Chicks with Guitars is looking forward to hearing how that comes together. I regret that due to a camera-operator malfunction, my desire to do a photo montage was demoted to “modified images from my blackberry”.  But it’s what it really looked like – dark, crowded and blurry. And fun.
