Bon Jovi: Celebrating 28 Years of Music
March 12, 2011 No Comments
Here’s a random fact for you: Jon Bon Jovi shares a birhday with Coldplay’s Chris Martin. And Dr. Seuss.
On the eve of his 49th birthday, I was lucky enough to be among the masses in TD Garden in Boston singing Happy Birthday to a guy from NJ that’s been rocking stages for 28 years now.
Below is a tribute to the show, click the arrows through to see both photos and video clips.
I highly recommend you at least flip through to the second bit of video footage. Whether or not you’re a fan, I promise you’ve never seen anyone shake maracas like Jon. If you have good attention to detail, you’ll notice – his backside is facing the larger part of audience. A camera in front of him was capturing his face on a large screen – but the attention to Jon’s ability to shake his ass was a bit surprising. To me. But apparently the shrieking “jooooooooooonnnn, we looooove you” ladies sitting behind us came in part for just such beefcake. Easily the audience was more women than men.
Well, he is sexy, I was just surprised he was workin’ it so hard. I’m not saying I minded.
No opening band, no breaks except for one unintended sound gaffaw (I think it was a blown speaker). Energy, energy, energy. Fun, fun, and fun. And every time I placed my focus on guitar-legend Richie Sambora, he had yet another guitar in his hand. I’ve since searched for info and find that he boasts a collection of about 120 guitars – my favorite from the show being a double neck acoustic with a 6 string neck on top and a 12 string neck on the bottom.
