get involved
How can you get involved? We’re so glad you asked!
1. Contribute
Guidelines for Writers: At the heart of every great story is… a heart. Something real, something rhythmic. Profiles, features, helpful tips are part of what we are looking for – vague promotions of individuals, events and services are not.
Guidelines for Photographers & Artists: We love a visual story, real events, people in motion, historic images. Nothing staged or artificial or unsuitable for a young audience. We like chicks with guitars, chicks who make guitars, chicks who customize their guitars, chicks who work at guitar stores, guitar shop signs, guitar graffiti and guitar-related tattoos and food. Check out our Flickr galleries to get an idea. You retain all rights to your images and we happily cross-promote to your web site or blog.
2. Tell us what’s important to you.
Maybe your friend just sent her daughter to a rock camp we should write about, maybe you know someone who teaches ethnomusicology that we should meet. Maybe you have a question you think we have the answer for. Let us know.
Guidelines for Artists, Promoters & Industry Services: Get in touch if you think you have something pertinent to share. We like to learn about new people, organizations and technologies. Please make sure that your topic is relevant to Chicks with Guitars, and please use proper etiquette - do not add us to your mailing list. We don’t spam and neither should you.
3. Host an event. Sponsor an event.
We have hosted events at a variety of locations and are open for a limited number of event-related partnerships.
We look forward to hearing from you and will respond to all inquiries promptly.
Thank you!

Hi,
I just discovered your website and I think it’s amazing that you’re all about women songwriters and artists. It’s difficult to be a successful female singer/songwriter in a male driven business so I appreciate the fact that you want to spotlight as many talented women as possible. That being said, I am a “chick with a guitar” and I think you’ll really like my music. My debut album “Only Human” came out last year and I am very proud of it and would love to share it with you. I am also part of the NYC Songwriter’s Circle (along with Craig Wilson) run by another “chick with a guitar”, Tina Shafer (you should check out her music too). Anyway, feel free to listen to my songs on my website or myspace: http://www.myspace.com/monicaott.
Thanks so much,
Monica Ott
Thanks, Monica! We’re busy with the upcoming show but I will have a listen and get in touch -always love to hear new artists!
